Revisiting the innovation–export entry link through a configuration approach

Findings on the innovation–export entry nexus remain inconclusive, which may be attributable to methodological issues. Most research has focused separate effects of single predictors and investigated only one or two types innovation. However, firms’ exporting behavior is complex, likely determined by interactions between innovation types. Drawing resource orchestration theory, we adopt a configuration approach uncover combinations (considered here as resources) associated with exporting, rather than investigating them in isolation. The study incorporates four innovation: product, process, organizational marketing findings from sample Spanish companies show that involving product process innovation, make more compelling case for export entry. results have theoretical managerial implications progress thinking this area reconcile current literature nexus.
